UFC 163 Aftermath: Main Event, Featherweight championship

The picture above is Jose Aldo kicking Chang Sung Jung with a broken foot. Check out the size of his right foot. It looks like he has a softball stuck in there.

The picture barely says what happened on Saturday night at the HSBC arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Jose Aldo brutalizes opponents with vicious leg kicks. He sent Urijah Faber to the hospital and on crutches due to leg kicks. Being a former minor league soccer player, he has some of the most vicious and effective leg kicks in all of MMA. Leg kicks take out the spring in your step. Wrestlers can no longer shoot, strikers can no longer step in and out with combinations. Your legs are everything.

Unfortunately for Jose Aldo, he broke his foot in the first kick of the night when he went to kick Chang Sung Jun (The Korean Zombie) in the leg. Jung checked the kick and lifted his leg up and Aldo’s foot landed right on Jung’s knee and then, his foot was broken.

Aldo’s striking game is among the best in the sport. Those who were watching were wondering why he was displaying such a good wrestling game trying to take Jung down to the ground…now we know.

The fight went on until the fourth round, Aldo having fought nearly 17 minutes with a broken foot inside the cage.

Then…it happened..

Chang Sung Jung threw an overhand right punch at Aldo’s head.. Aldo moved out of the way and the punch hit Aldo’s shoulder.  The impact from throwing the punch and hitting a shoulder instead of a head, dislocated Chang Sung Jung’s shoulder.

ImageThat picture is Chang Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie) trying to pop his shoulder back in place during the fourth round.  Aldo saw this as an opportunity and threw three kicks to the dislocated shoulder.  Jung went down and curled up. Aldo swarmed him and got on top and threw a few punches from the top position and the fight was over.  Aldo remained victorious again and cemented himself again, as the greatest featherweight in MMA history.

ImageIn the picture above, is Jose Aldo celebrating his victory, while Chang Sung Jung is being attended to by the medical staff.

He wanted to run out of the cage and celebrate with the crowd like last time at the HSBC Arena, but security knew that and stopped him right away.

ImageThat is him celebrating his first round knockout of Chad Mendes at UFC 142. After the knockout, he ran out of the cage, blowing by security, and ran straight into the crowd at the HSBC arena, they put him on their shoulders and they celebrated. One of my favorite moments in UFC history.
